My studio practice can be defined by a sense of curiosity, exploration and an enjoyment
for creating objects with my hands. These manifest themselves through the drawn image,
experimentation with material and form, and the execution of works that have implications of
physical and visual movement.
Physical movement is enacted through the inherent qualities in functional objects, such
as the turn of a knob, or the opening of drawers and doors. The forms, surface and finish are
meant to encourage this, evolving into a play-like relationship.
My new direction of work explores the ideas of growth and transition. I am referencing
baskets and nests through representational and abstract forms, combining many elements to
define the overall larger entity. Through building, weaving and the piling of elements, these forms
reveal the process of making and visual movement in the textures that create their structure.
